Song Of The Week #23

Whether by fate, chance, or simply coincidence, I seem to run into the theme ‘Germany’ quite often. Perhaps, should I have nothing better  to do, I will make a playlist with these ‘themed’ tuned… Anyway, introducing:

The Moth & The Mirror – Germany

Much like my first high-school band (although these guys are far  from that), The Moth & The Mirror is a six-piece band. A six-piece, with the majority of its members hailing from Scottish origin.

Sadly, that’s all I know. It’s always the research I have to do for the band that throws me off. It seems that no one bothers to write biographies anymore… Hella’ lot easier if I didn’t have to dig deep into the caverns of the internet to recover the info I need.

Oh well, the stellar music does more than make up for that.

Germany is the eighth track of their 2011 album Honestly, This World.

Listen here.

Song Of The Week #22

I rarely like using the replay function on my Ipod (on any music player,  for that matter – CD players, iTunes, you name it). Mostly because I tend to overuse the function.

I play the tune over and over, and before I know it, I’ve listened to it 30 times in a row. And no matter how good the song, this is usually enough times for me to already be sick of it.  Usually. There are exceptions, and this – this  is one.

The Lumineers – Ho Hey

The Lumineers are an American three-piece folk rock band hailing from Colorado.

As stated not too long ago, I’m not a particularly huge fan of folk rock. This song however, rightfully earned my respect. There is something about the campfire guitars and repetitive chanting that seems to enthrall me – a song so beautifully simple and to the point, leaving you craving more.

A refreshing twist to the otherwise exhausted supply of music I have to offer.

Ho Hey is the lead single from their 2012 eponymous album.

I also thank this blog, for introducing us.
