Song Of The Week #30

It is worth noting that ‘Jonathan’ is not the name of a seventeen year old girl. That will, however, be far from enough to prevent me from enjoying this wonderful tune.

Broken Social Scene – Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old Girl

You Forgot It In People

While being a devoted fan to Stars, Metric and Feist, it occurred to me relatively late to check out the one thing they all had in common: Broken Social Scene. As a result, i’ve known Broken Social Scene for only a year. Nevertheless, in that short space of time  this musical ‘supergroup’ have quickly climbed up the ladder into being one of my favorite acts – and for a good reason.

Broken Social Scene is a Canadian indie rock, musical collective that was started in 1999 by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning. The duo released their debut Feel Good Lost in 2001, with much of the album having received plenty of contribution from friends Justin Peroff, Charles Spearin, Leslie Feist and Evan Cranley. By the time their second album, You Forgot It In People, came out  in 2002, Broken Social Scene had branched out to an 11-piece collective.

Well, what have I to complain? Three of my favorite vocalists in one group – almost too good to be true.

Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old Girl is the seventh track on their sophomore album You Forgot It In People (2002).

P.s: Congratulations on surviving the apocalypse!
